And...here we go again!

Today is the offical start to the new training season! I have six mentees to help gain confidence and strength as they train and fundraise towards all of their goals. They are all so excited, just like how I was when I started the Team In Training experience. Mentoring is going to be such a rewarding experience.

Today was a swim day. Training this season seems like it may be more intense. This may be because Wildflower is a very difficult race course. We have 3 swim days on our schedule and we have drills to do each time. Swim drills are sets we need to swim. For example, warm-up could be swimming 3 sets of 50 (each length of the pool is 25) and the workout portion could be sets of 100s, 200s even 300s with a set rest time between sets. Then of course, if you are not toast after that there is the cool down. I am sure as the season progresses these sets will become longer and harder.

On a side note, I am not fundraising for TNT this season. I have two very brave friends from our fall team who have signed on to the Iron Man Triathlon team. For those of you who are not familiar with an Iron Man it is a lot longer than the olympic distance triathlon David and I completed. The Iron Man is a 2.4 mile swim, 115 mile bike ride, and then a full 26.2 mile marathon. All in one day. Yikes!! They will be competing in the 2006 Iron Man Canada race. And they are doing it all for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. They have very hefty fundraising goals....if you would like to make a donation to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for one (or both) of them, it is fully tax deductible for 2006. They are really good people trying to help find a cure for blood cancers.
